This piece is the first of a series of resistance jewelry raising funds for Portland Immigrant Rights Coalition and my local community food pantry serving immigrant families. All proceeds will be shared between these two orgs.
The glass is from a shattered vintage iittala bowl from my collection of MCM Scandinavian glass. Reimagining these shimmering, icy pieces into resistance jewelry helps me feel less sad about it. One face resembles the strong texture of columnar basalt. The edges of the fractured sides smoothed to the touch.
A thick piece of sterling silver tops the pendant, with a spike piercing into the glass. The word 'FUCK' cut into the silver. Hold onto it any time you feel the need to scream but have to hold back for some reason. I've got you. I see you, Warrior.
Pendant hangs from a 21" sterling silver cable chain. The lobster clasp can connect with any link of the chain for adjustability.
